Plans for today

I have a new follower. Her name is Deserae. Check her out.
She also commented on my last blog saying I had fabulous taste and that she hopes I get a few of the things on my shopping list. Thanks for your comment, my dear Deserae, and let me just tell you your name is beautiful! Okay, here are my plans for the day:

Sort out my Converse collection. I have way too many shoes.

Make some yummy pancakes for my family.

Teach my cat how to levitate.

Reread the Harry Potter series.

Finish my French essay.

Make a birthday card for my nanna.

Be awesome.

Those are my plans so far. I'll probably end up adding to the list later. Enjoy your day, amigos!

How to relax when you're stressed

Following on from my last how-to post, I've decided to write about the things I do when I'm feeling stressy. Let's face it, everyone gets stressed. So here are some of my ideas.

How to relax when you're feeling stressed

Change into something comfortable. For me, comfortable is all about snuggable pyjamas and cosy slippers. Make sure you're warm and comfy before beginning your stress-free regime.

Make yourself a warm drink. Hot chocolate or chamomile tea usually does the trick. Or treat yourself at your local coffee shop if you don't feel like doing it yourself.

Play some of your favourite music. Loud, raging rock music probably won't help. Go for something soothing, like classical or jazz. (Unless rock music actually helps you feel calmer.)

Talk to someone. A loved one, a pet or yourself. Talking things through can be very therapeutic. Go somewhere you love with your family or friends and just let loose. Have fun.

Treat yourself to a long soak in the tub. Bubble baths have been proven to be very calming. Especially if you add essential oils and scented candles to create a peaceful ambience.

If you have something you need to do, get it out of the way. Don't leave any chores or homework to the last minute. Getting it over and done with means you get to look forward to more "me time" for later! Write a to-do list if you have trouble keeping up with everything.

Do something you love to take your mind off the stress. Write a poem, take photos of nature, go shopping with your friends, eat ice cream, read your favourite blogs, watch a movie you haven't seen in ages. If something makes you happy, then it's something worth doing.

It may sound odd but painting your nails a different colour or experimenting with a new hairstyle can help you relax. It's reassuring knowing that change isn't always a bad thing!

Make your day as amazing as you possibly can!

Called my sister who is on her gap year holiday in Mexico.

Played Super Mario Bros on my DS.

Made s'mores for the first time with my best friend Janet.

Watched Breakfast at Tiffany's for the billionth time.

Made vanilla cheesecake cupcakes with my momma.

Bought Two Door Cinema Club's CD "Tourist History" (thanks Sonal).

Decided I will get a mermaid tattoo when I'm older.

Nearly got hit by a car which drove through a red light.

Painted my toenails with Essie's Van D'Go polish.

Met my grandma at Starbucks in town for coffee and a chat.

And that's basically it.

How to have a successful blog

Now, I'm not saying that following these instructions will instantly make your blog popular. These are just a few ideas and suggestions that I think could help make your blog successful.

How to have a successful blog

Write about what you know. Are you a storyteller? A photographer? Or just someone who wants to inspire others to live life to the fullest? Whatever it may be, find out what you're good at writing about and stick to it. Unless you like to shake things up once in a while.

Make your blog engaging. Nobody wants to look at something that hurts the eyes, right? Experiment with different designs and layouts until you find one that suits you.

Aim your blog at a particular audience to increase attention. So if your blog is about improving your knitting skills and includes step-by-step tutorials and knitting pattern ideas, chances are your audience is older women (or men). Make your blog appeal to your audience.

Promote your blog via other social networking sites like Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, etc. People will visit out of interest and you will possibly gain new readers!

Be interesting! Don't write about how depressing your life is or something like that. Write about stuff that you would want to read. Get inspired by other blogs and their ideas!

Don't lose faith in yourself. If you start thinking you're not a good blogger, you'll start believing it. And you'll feel like deleting your blog in an instant. Not good.

If I get any rude comments on this post telling me that I know nothing about making a successful blog, I'll delete them. Because you know what? Maybe my blog isn't successful. Hey, I've only been on Blogger for two days. But a lot of the great blogs I read need more recognition. These are just some of my ideas on how to get them more recognized in the blogosphere.
